Kinja'd!!!

Finally there is some progress for my !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! -seats. The E21 Recaros I've resourced are stripped and the leather-parts (front) have been cut/sown. The ones pictured above are not mine but an example how they will look like. Sort of.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

So I went to the upholstery-shop yesterday to see the progress my self and the choice I made, leather sides with perforated leather on the inside 70's style (there is a difference in the position from and distance between the holes with each era), was a good one I suppose:

Or, with some more detail:

Kinja'd!!!

This week they'll finish it up: cutting/sowing the leather for the back-seat and putting it all together. I'm not able to pick it up next week but the week after that I'll probably take them home.

I am super jealous - the one piece of original equipment my E21 doesn't have is the Recaros. :( I'm hunting for some but they're probably going to be the last thing I do to it.

Aardvark Racing has an ongoing stock with them, you could contact them. You'll probably end up on the waiting list (as I have been although I ended up getting them from Germany) though. What E21 do you have?

Yeah, in the 50's/60's the holes were further apart, I think there's even a difference between Mercedes and BMW when it comes to the exact position from one to another.

Already done - they said it'd probably be about a year, which is actually fine since I have other stuff that needs doing first. I have an '81 320is, currently in the shop for an electrical issue I couldn't fix.

Awesome! LSD! But... I've always thought these came with Recaros as standard? And did you replace/remove that bumpers? PICTURES PLEASE!

They did come with the Recaros standard - previous owner removed them rather than rehabbing them (which was incredibly stupid but whatever, I probably would have had a lot more competition for the car with them in.) Bumper tuck is 95% done, I cut down the bellows but need to glue them back together before I put everything back on.

First day photos are here - I need to take more when I finish the bumper tuck.

The suspension's original, I think the ride height is an optical illusion because of my driveway. :) Thanks, I've been posting progress, just no photos in a while because they'd just have been of the dashboard with a bunch of wires hanging out.

Or maybe something in the trunk? I know the 320is had a lowered suspension but never saw it this low, especially in the back. Nice to see someone else is taking quite some time to document and finish their projekt ;-)
